Question Is it possible to reduce ESD in carpeted floors? We had a "non-ESD producing" carpet installed that does produce ESD. Are there sprays or other treatments available? - Vytas Pazemenas, Aubrey Group, Inc., Irvine, CA
Answer Yes, there is a solution for reducing tribocharging in non-ESD carpets. We recommend to purchase our Statproof ® floor finish and transfer the liquid into an aerator bottle with a 1:1 mixture with water that is then sprayed onto the carpet. Monitor and re-apply until the carpet no longer generates charges. Once the proper control is established, the carpet should retain these conductive and antistatic properties for several months, depending on traffic. Make sure you apply this solution in a well ventilated area as you would any normal floor care product.
