Question Where I am employed most all of the electronic components/subassy/assy are transfer of inventory, thus lack manufacturers certifications. Some of these subassy/assy contain JANTXV1N and 2N components. How does one know the ESD sensitivity of these cmpts? - Anonymous, Las Cruces, NM
Answer The manufacturer of ESD Sensitive (ESDS) parts should know the ESD Classification of their devices. Typically, this is displayed with an ESD susceptibility symbol with the ESDS classification stamped on the hand. If this is not done, there is a listing of some common devices and their ESD Classification found in the VZAP-91P data book: VZAP-91P (ESD Susceptibility Data)Package includes data on approximately 4000 devices. Devices include: microcircuits, discrete components. Package has capability of complete independent data retrieval. Data includes commercial part number, device description, manufacturer, ESD Classification (per MIL-STD-1686A and MIL-STD-883, Method 3015.7), data code, information regarding the source of the data, R/C values used in the discharge circuit, failure voltage, pin combination, failure criteria, and more.
