Question We have discovered the benefits of magnet therapy. At work we are ESD covered; smocks, shoes, wrist straps, chairs, ionizers, pretty much everything. We were wondering if wearing these magnets, which are insoles in shoes, would hurt the products we work with. We make the electrical sensor device for airbags. The magnet therapy has helped so many people we hate to give it up. Any information would greatly be appreciated. Thank you. - Anonymous, Marshall
Answer The magnets that you described as therapeutic insoles to your shoes should not hurt your ESD program. (The only exception would be: if the magnetic field from the inserts were rather large and the movement from your foot was rather rapid - like a wheel kick - across a low impedance conductor, then you would generate a current that could lead to problems if the energy was stored, continually fed and summed to high enough levels for discharge.)
