Question
I have been asked by a customer to supply "ESD certified" ergonomic seating for uses in hospital laboratories. I am not at all familiar with any of the requirements to meet this certification. Would you be able to help me in any way, to describe what is required by myself as a chair manufacturer and of the customer in the hospitals? - Anonymous, Irvine, CA
Answer
There is a fairly new standard for seating, ESD STM12.1-1997, that is available for test methods used for measuring the electrical resistance of ESD seating.
