Question
What are the voltage readings or static charge generation readings for polyimide film 'Kapton Tape'? - Anonymous, Bothell, WA,
Answer
Polyimide Tape has two main components, the film and the adhesive. A few manufacturers use the high quality Dupont® Kapton® film, and the rest use a generic polyimide film. The adhesive can be silicon or rubber based. Every manufacture is different, but there is only one manufacturer that claims Zero static charge generation upon unwind or removal of the Kapton® Tape and that is our Wescorp® Brand Tapes. Other Polyimide tapes have 50 volts or more generation upon unwind or removal (refer to the ESDA ADV11.2).
