Question
What is the difference between ESD static shielding bag and the black conductive bag?
Answer
The three ESD control properties that an ESD protective product might have is:
Low charging (antistatic)
Dissipative or conductive so when grounded charges will be removed to ground
Shielding
Per ESD Handbook TR20.20 section 5 C. Transportation of ESDS items outside an Electrostatic Protected Area requires enclosure in static protective materials, although the type of material depends on the situation and destination. Inside a Protected Area, low charging and static dissipative materials may provide adequate protection. Outside a Protected Area, low charging and static discharge shielding materials are recommended. Black conductive bags would be low charging and conductive, while an ESD Metal In or Metal Out Shielding Bag would have all three, and be an economical choice for transporting or storing ESD sensitive products outside an ESD Protected Area.
