Question Why do our ESD floors become slippery? - Anonymous
Answer All ESD finishes are humidity dependent and are water-loving becoming slick [having a lower coefficient of friction] when the relative humidity increases. Statproof®, Statguard®, and Statfree®, dissipative floor finishes are less dependent on water content than most ESD finishes as the electrical properties are built into the polymer and do not rely strictly on the moisture attraction. A counter intuitive suggestion is to damp mop if the surface gets very wet as it tightens up the surface. Also, sand could be sprinkled in the area on the last coat if needed. Some customers do this for inclines or known wet surfaces.
