I've been told that it is approximately 10 kV for you to feel a static discharge and approximately 30 kV to be able to see the discharge. Are these values correct? If not, what are the correct values? - Anonymous, Seattle, WA
Answer
The voltage values that are needed for a human body to feel, hear, and see a Zap (or ESD event) are: Feel: > ~ 3,000 V; See: > ~ 5,000 V; Hear: > ~ 6,000 V
