Question
Where would it be inappropriate to use ESD wrist straps? When is damaging ESD most likely to occur? –Anonymous, Tampa Bay, FL
Answer
Assuming the operator is in an ESD Safe area, it would only be inappropriate for the operator to wear grounded ESD wrist straps when their life could be at risk in high voltage areas, such as high-pot testing benches or assembly and testing of high voltage equipment (monitors, TVs, etc.). The appropriateness of the use of grounding apparatus should be determined by your local safety officer.
